Roles

Dr. Eman Bouni is a Lecturer in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tripoli. Her responsibilities include teaching pathology, contributing to the development of the educational process, providing academic advising and guidance to students, and participating in departmental activities and academic committees. She is also interested in developing educational and scientific initiatives for students, promoting independent learning and scientific and research skills, and integrating medical education with modern practices in pathology and molecular medicine.

Dr. Eman Bouni began her professional career after graduating with a medical degree in 2008. She worked in the field of cardiology from 2009 to 2012, while simultaneously developing an early interest in scientific research.

In 2009, she joined the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tripoli, as a Teaching Assistant and remained in the department until 2014.

She then moved to Turkey to pursue postgraduate studies in Molecular Medicine at Yeditepe University. She initially enrolled in the Master’s program, and was subsequently granted an exceptional opportunity to transfer to the PhD program and continue her academic and research career. She obtained her PhD in Molecular Medicine in 2022 with the highest honors.

Her doctoral dissertation investigated genetic polymorphisms of the CXCL12 gene and their association with ovarian cancer among the Turkish population.

After completing her PhD, Dr. Buni returned to Libya and resumed her academic career in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tripoli. She has been working as a Lecturer in the department since September 2024.

Her early research experience includes studies in behavioral medicine and cardiovascular risk factors, in addition to her doctoral research on the molecular genetics of ovarian cancer.
