Overview

It clarifies the historical, philosophical and social foundations of education, and clarifies the relationship between education and society, its goals and aspirations. Learn about the methods and skills that help educators perform their tasks efficiently.

Intended learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student must be able to:

1. Explain in detail the concept of education through the ages

2. Show the importance and function of education and the link with other sciences.

3. Mention the historical, philosophical and social foundations of education in ancient societies.

4. Discuss the philosophical foundations of education and the psychological foundations of education.

5. Enumerate the flags of Western educational thought and the flags of Islamic thought.

6. Compare the concept of education across the ages.

7. Distinguish between the importance and function of the link between education and other sciences.

8. Compare the historical, philosophical and social basics of education in ancient societies.

9. Explain the philosophical and the psychological origins of education.

10. Discuss the opinions of the prominent thinkers of Western and Islamic educational thought.

11. Trace the concept of education through the ages in his future research.

12. Apply his knowledge of the importance, function and link of education to other sciences in his professional life.

13. Appreciate the efforts of Arab Muslim thinkers in consolidating the historical, philosophical and social foundations of education in ancient societies.

14. Criticize the philosophical and psychological foundations of education.

15. Employs his knowledge of the opinions of the prominent figures of Western educational thought and the prominent figures of Islamic thought in his field of specialization.

The course will be presented to the student through lectures, panel discussions, or assignments and exercises, discussion and dialogue

Assessment

Methods of evaluating students in this course:

(class work 40% & final 60%)

Class work is divided into written midterm, assignments and tasks.

Final exam is in a form of written exam.

Objectives of education in the Arab world: (The development of education in Libya.

The educational structure in Libya: (its objectives - its system - elements of the educational process).
