Overview

This course is designed to serve as an introductory physics course for general school students at the University of Tripoli. It begins with introducing the student to physics and its relationship to other basic sciences. This course introduces the basic concepts of the principles of classical mechanics through unit systems and the basics of mechanics from motion in one dimension to Newton’s laws, work, energy, potential energy and energy conservation.

Intended learning outcomes

By studying the course, the student will be able to:1- Understand the relationship between different unit systems through conversions.2- Describe motion in one dimension.3- Analyze motion in two dimensions (Newton's laws), such as projectile motion and circular motion.4- Apply Newton's laws of motion and their applications to different systems.5- It connects the concept of work, potential energy, conservative forces and non-conservative forces.

Teaching and learning methods

1- Lectures.

2- Solve problems and discuss various exercises.

Methods of assessments

1- Written first midterm exam 25%

2- Written second midterm exam 25%

3- Written final exam 50%

4- A passing score of 50% or more

5- The total assessment of the course is 100%.
