Overview

The student acquires knowledge about the following topics: Stored pest types, their life cycle and their harm. In addition, studying the most important pests which infest field crops. Primary and secondary pests affecting cereal grains, legumes, dates and their products in stores, as well as methods of identifying insect infestations in stored grain and its products, and methods of control used.

Intended learning outcomes

The student acquires knowledge about the pests which infest grain and stored food products. Also, understand the identification of pests which infest stored products and the best method of control crop management.

Teaching and learning methods

Theoretical lectures and practical sessions.

Field visits to silos for storing grain, collection of samples and identification of important stored grain insects in the laboratory.
