Overview

This course aims to introduce students to the most commonly used English terms in the field of special education, and to help them understand the meanings of these terms. It also helps to approximate the meanings of words and terms and remove confusion and ambiguity in understanding their connotations, which reduces the difficulty of reaching a common understanding among specialists in this field.

Intended learning outcomes

• To be able to:

• The student should explain one of the terms of special education in English.

• That the student enumerate the terms of special education.

• To familiarize the student with the terms of special education when searching for English articles and studies.

• That the student distinguish the terminology of disability in English.

• That the student links between the different scientific sources to reach the best results for the development of terminology in the English language to serve people with disabilities.

• The student should study an English Dictionary of Special Education and Rehabilitation of Extraordinary Persons.

• That the student distinguish between the terms hearing disability and visual disability.

• That the student discusses and analyzes the internet and the ability to exchange information and evaluate presentations and accept feedback and questions.

• The student should develop his professional personality by becoming familiar with the English terminology that serves people with disabilities.

• The student employs information and communication technology through familiarity with the terminology of special education.

• That the student distinguish between the terms of special education in the English language.

• The student should use the Internet and be able to exchange information, evaluate presentations, and accept notes and questions.

• Acquire the skills of organizing and managing classroom learning.

• The student should be able to use modern technologies and employ them in presenting the topics of the lessons.

• The ability to practice the skill of communicating with others.

• The student should be able to work within a group and the skills it includes represented in respecting the opinion of others, effective communication skills, problem-solving, taking responsibility and the ability to make appropriate decisions.

• Lecture and encourage dialogue and discussion.

• A case study and discussion panels by presenting cases with pictures and videos and mentioning the type of disability in English.

• The student should use the Internet and be able to exchange information, evaluate presentations, and accept notes and questions.

Teaching and learning methods

• Lecture and encourage dialogue and discussion.

• Divide the students into groups and assign them to write reports and summarize studies to get acquainted with the English terminology.
