Overview

This course aims to identify basic skills in communicating with people with special needs. It also aims to introduce students to sign language for the deaf, Braille for the visually impaired, verbal and linguistic training, and in distinguishing between sensory and physical communication methods.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Be familiar with communication and its various topics

2. Explain the origin and development of the communication process and list the patterns of effective verbal and non-verbal communication

3. Determine ways to develop communication skills with different special groups

4. Explain events related to communication skills through small scale research

5. Compare methods of communication and skills with categories of people with special needs

6. Discover methods of communication with different special groups

7. Conclude the importance of effective communication and its role in dealing with others

8. Connect between body movement and facial expressions in accordance with different situations

9. Analyzes events related to communication skills through small scale research

10. Explain and discuss ways and means of communicating with groups with special needs

11. Apply studied material in the area of specialization

12. Perform duties entrusted with in the best way possible

13. Use different methods of communication with people with special needs

14. Employ verbal and non-verbal communication skills

15. To apply and evaluate methods of communication skills with special needs groups
