Overview

This course introduces the students to the rights of people with disabilities including the right to education, health and work as any other member in the society. The course also aims to introduce laws and legislation that govern the running of institutions and centers that provide services to people with special needs.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Know the rights and needs of people with disabilities

2. Enumerate key legislative articles for the disabled

3. distinguish the importance of social security in guaranteeing the rights of the disabled in society

4. Compare the provisions of Arab legislation in protecting the rights of people with disabilities

5. Clarify international conventions on the rights of the disabled, laws and articles that concern and care for the disabled

6. Realize the relationship between the provisions of legislation in the Libyan society and other Arab countries

7. Link between legal protection for ordinary and extraordinary people

8. Discuss social security laws and regulations

9. Show the provisions of Arab legislation in protecting the rights of people with disabilities

10. Explain international conventions on rights of the disabled, and laws and materials concerning care for the disabled

11. Use the provisions of legislation in the Libyan society to deal with the rights of the disabled

12. Review key international conventions and charters for people with disabilities

13. Spread the culture of using legal means to deal with the rights of the disabled

14. Apply and evaluate the provisions of Arab legislations in protecting the rights the disabled

15. Use social security laws and regulations for the benefit of special needs groups

16. Learn how to prepare for and participate in research

17. Engage in self-assessment procedures

18. Use technology and respect the opinions of others
