Overview

This course is considered a theoretical basis for the teaching applications and teaching practice. It focuses on providing students with the essential, concepts, and skills related to novel methods, means, strategies, and methods of teaching for particular special needs groups, in addition to applying individual and group teaching methods in special education. This course also deals with cognitive and behavioral methods required for special education, the standards and requirements related to the methods used for variable needs categories.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Explain the special education regulations for teaching people with special needs.

2. Recall the teaching strategies for people with special needs.

3. Describe the teaching competencies required for special needs teachers.

4. Compare the teaching strategies for people with special needs.

5. Write about one of the modern strategies suitable for teaching students with special needs.

6. Diagnose and solves problems of the classroom environment concerning students with special needs.

7. List the components of an individual plan and a group plan.

8. Design an educational program for people with sensory disabilities.

9. Design an educational program for people with mental retardation.

10. Design an educational program for children with autism.

11. Pursue a channel of communication with future students of special needs.

12. Employ appropriate teaching methods for particular categories of special needs groups.

13. Select appropriate teaching aids for particular categories of special needs groups.

14. Adapt the curriculum to suit groups of special needs.

15. Acquire professional qualities of special needs teacher.
