Overview

The course provide a foundation in general entomology topics for undergraduate students where the course cover insect morphology and insect diversity, insect ecology and how insects important in ecosystem. In addition, the course will provide a good knowledge on the role of insects in transmitting lethal diseases to human and animals and the role of insects in controlling pests.

Intended learning outcomes

The student recognize the class of insects and enumerates insect orders in terms of their classification and diversity

The student describe the external structure of insects.

The student recognize the internal structure of insects.

The student explain the biology of insects, their formation (transformation) and growth.

The student recognize the importance of insects in the ecosystem and their impact on humans in terms of benefits and harms.
