Abstract

This study attempts to draw the attention of those who are jealous of the Arabic language to the hoped-for role of the Libyan Arabic Language Academy in unifying scientific terminology within the University of Tripoli, and indeed Libyan universities, by defining the linguistic reality of scientific terminology therein, and developing a linguistic plan that preserves the Arabic language from decline, and enables it to communicate civilized by its ability to bear the language of science and modern technology.


It aims to determine the linguistic reality of the use of scientific terminology in the scientific departments of the University of Tripoli, and to develop a procedural vision for the Arabization of scientific terminology and its unification in the University of Tripoli curricula by forming a special office for terminological planning that works in the form of networks within the scientific departments in all colleges of the university; so that it can study the linguistic reality therein and plan for it. It developed a vision for the steps of the office’s work in four stages, parallel to the stages of linguistic planning.  This study was divided into two parts: a theoretical part, in which the descriptive-inductive approach was used to collect data, and a field part, in which the analytical and statistical approach was used to arrive at accurate scientific results. The study tool was a questionnaire to survey the opinions of faculty members at the College of Education, Tripoli, to determine the status of the Arabic language in teaching and learning at the university level and to evaluate the procedures used in the field of Arabization and standardization of terminology.
