Dr. Hamida Al-Abbasi is one of the faculty members in the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts, Tripoli. Mrs. Hamida Al-Abbasi has been working at the University of Tripoli as an assistant professor since 2022 and has many scientific publications in her field of specialization. Interested in teaching social theories in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. She evaluated and discussed many master's theses in the field of sociology, and also supervised a number of graduate students.

Careers

Bachelor of Arts, University of Tripoli. - I was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Sociology in 2000 AD - Master of Sociology in the specialty (criminology) from the Faculty of Arts - University of Tripoli, 2005 AD, and the topic of the thesis was (women's crimes in Libya (a historical perspective in the period from 1952_2002). PhD in Sociology with first honors, with a recommendation to exchange the thesis with other universities from Ain Shams University in the Republic of Demographics, Egypt 2015 AD, and the title of the thesis was (Social factors affecting the reproductive behavior of the Libyan family, a study of a sample of families in the city of Tripoli.

Research Interests

Interested in issues of population, development, crime and social control. She published several research papers, most notably the research titled “Women’s Crimes, Motivations and Types” in the Beacon of Social Sciences Magazine 2008, and a research on domestic violence 2007, and a research on community protection from drug abuse in Libya 2021, and a research entitled “Towards their understanding of the phenomenon of displacement in Libya and ways of confrontation 2021” Sana’a, and another about "Population policy as a necessity to direct the course of population growth in Libya 2020, Journal of Al-Zaytoonah University, as I previously published a research entitled "Sustainable Development in Libya, Reality and Challenges" 2021, Journal of the College of Graduate Studies, Al-Zaytouna, and a research entitled "Coronavirus in Libya and Government Confrontation Mechanisms 2021" in the Journal of Social Sciences Research and humanity", and research on the role of the media in dealing with issues of the disabled, as previously published research such as illegal immigration in Libya (proposals and solutions).

External Activities

- Member of the Editorial Committee of the Journal of the University of the Present from 2021. - I participated in several conferences such as the International Conference on Migration and Asylum in the Arab Region (Reality Challenges Solutions) in Sana’a 2021, the First Conference on Sustainable Development 2020 Tripoli, and the International Scientific Conference on Confronting Drugs, Solidarity Responsibility Tripoli 2021, and, I also attended conferences and seminars in the Republic of Egypt at the Research Center Social and Criminal Studies in Cairo, and the Demographic Center in Cairo. She participated in several seminars, most notably “What Do Youth Want” 2007 in Tripoli, and presented two papers, one on drugs and the other on prisons, in addition to research in a seminar on violence against women, Tripoli 2007.
