Dr. Mohamed Kalifa Bashish is a faculty member in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine, with the rank of Professor. He has been teaching undergraduate students in the department since May 2015. He currently teaches various topics in his specialty, including chemical warfare agents, alcohol poisoning, toxic gases, and others. He has many publications and many patents. Dr. Mohamed Khalifa Bashish has been the coordinator of postgraduate studies and training in the department since 2015 until now, as well as managing the postgraduate studies and training office at the college for several years. He is currently the head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Mohamed Kalifa Bashish graduated in 1985/86 with a degree in Chemistry. He joined the Petroleum Research Center in Tripoli, Libya in 1986 and worked in the Chemistry Department where he carried out routine analytical work, as well as research and problem solving related to the oil industry in Libya. He received a scholarship in 1988 and completed his research MSc in 1990 after which he participated in the PhD program leading to his PhD. After graduation, Dr. Bashish worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology for many years and published several publications and was granted several patents. Dr. Bashish established a chemical company, Manchester Organics Ltd, in the United Kingdom in partnership with others and continued to work for several years until his resignation in the late 2000s. In 2011, Dr. Bashish was appointed Director General of the Health Office at the Libyan Embassy until 2013. He then returned to Libya as a Senior Research Fellow at the Libyan Oil Center. In early 2015, Dr. Bishesh joined the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine as a Professor of Toxicology and remains a faculty member at this institution.

Dr. Mohamed Kalifa 119610208464 research interests include:

- Developing new and innovative fluoroelectrophilic agents to facilitate the introduction of fluorine into medical and pharmaceutical compounds and studying its therapeutic benefits as anti-cancer drugs.

- Environmental toxins and the impact of chemical pollution of petroleum waste in general and specifically on human communities adjacent to oil fields and facilities.

- Study of carbon monoxide poisoning in different geographical areas in Libya.

- The impact of alcohol poisoning on the population in Libya.

- Identification and classification of animal toxins in Libya, including terrestrial and marine toxins.

- Air pollution and its impact on the population in Libya.

Dr. Mohamed Kalifa Bishesh is closely involved with the Petroleum Research Center in Tripoli, Libya, in dealing with hydrocarbon poisoning issues related to the Libyan population in general, and in particular, heavy metal pollution on the oil industry workforce. He also translates several scientific books as well as writes numerous reviews and articles related to his specialty and scientific interests in well-known and internationally classified scientific journals.
