Abstract

Throughout its long history, Arabic poetry has known an overlap and interdependence with a lot of other literary arts, including story, novel, drama and autobiography, which is an overlap that abolishes the idea of literary purity that was defended and championed by the classic critics. This overlap has consequently put and end to boundaries between poetry and prose as poets have invested the techniques of narration, description, dialogue, retrieval and anticipation in their poems, which are among the pillars of anecdotal works. However, this overlap has become more prominent and evident in modern Arabic poetry in general and in the contemporary one in particular, which has made modern criticism lay great importance on this issue. A significance which pushed us to shed light in this study on the issue of genres overlapping in contemporary poetry, through making known the issue with a clarification of the influence of the classical critics' position on this issue on Arab poetry, and how they turned away from it after the Palestinian Nakba، and then showing the manifestations of this overlap in contemporary Moroccan poetry by working on two poems entitled Sebta And Jerusalem, by Ahmad Al-Madawi Al-Majati, two poems with an obvious presence of an overlap of genres which has greatly contributed to Serving their aesthetics as well as their organic unity and the poetic experience of the poet.
