Abdul Karim is a faculty member in the Department of Animal Production at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tripoli. He works as a lecturer for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He holds a professor’s degree since 2007. He has many scientific publications in his field of specialization in several peer-reviewed scientific journals. He conducts scientific research with researchers in the department. In the field of small ruminants, member of the Committee for the Development of the Educational Process at the College of Agriculture 2013, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the workshop entitled “The Reality of Sheep Breeding in Libya and Ways to Improve Their Productivity” 2013, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Food Security Symposium 3 “Reality and Challenges” College of Agriculture 2019, Member of the Preparation Committee Scientific Research Ethics Document of the University of Tripoli 2017,

Careers

Mr. / Dr. Abdul Karim, took over Head of the Animal Production Department during 1999-2002, Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies in the Animal Production Department 2005-2009, Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Libyan Journal of Agricultural Sciences since 2009 until now, Member of the Board of Directors of the Research, Consultation and Training Center at the University of Tripoli 2014-2018, Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs of the College of Agriculture 2018-2019, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture 2020, Chairman of the Scientific Committee to follow up on the implementation of a cooperation agreement between the University of Tripoli and the Libyan Center for Biotechnology Research.

Research Interests

Mr. / Dr. is interested. Abdul Karim conducts scientific research in small ruminants (sheep and goats) which includes herd management and care, breeding and genetic improvement (selection and mixing of strains), publishing scientific research in many scientific journals such as the Libyan Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Misurata University Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences Sebha University Journal of Research and Applied Sciences, Egyptian Journal of Sheep and Goat Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University Journal of Scientific Research (Agricultural and Marine Sciences), Research Booklet (1) for the Sixth World Conference on Animal Production in Tropical Regions in Indonesia 2015, As well as participation in many scientific conferences concerned with animal production and small ruminants in particular, including the Animal Production Conference in Aleppo, Syria 2004, the First International Conference for the Development of Small Ruminants in Egypt 2006, a workshop on modern trends in goat production under dry conditions at the Desert Research Center in Egypt 2006, Scientific Conference International Conference on the Production and Health of Small Ruminants in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions (Sultan Qaboos University 2008), the Third International Conference on the Development of Small Ruminants (Egypt 2010), the Sixth International Conference on Animal Production in Tropical Regions in Indonesia 2016, the Second Scientific Conference on Agricultural Sciences - Animal production (Misurata University 2021).

External Activities

Member of the technical committee to set technical specifications for local sheep “sheep and goats”, sponsored by the Animal Breed Improvement and Veterinary Health Authority 2001, member of the committee to prepare a report on the status of animal genetic resources in Libya sponsored by the Agricultural and Animal Research Center 2003, member of the technical committee to prepare summaries of research and studies of livestock in Libya under the auspices of the General Authority for Animal Resources, 2002. Member of the Scientific Committee for the Animal Breeds Improvement Project (2004-2007), Member of the Scientific Committee for the Implementation of the Agreement of the Agricultural Research Center and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) to improve small ruminants (2009), Member of the Committee for Evaluation and Approval of Research Projects of the National Authority for Scientific Research (2009 - 2012), a member of the Committee on Animal Genetic Resources at the Ministry of Agriculture from March 2020 until now.
