Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Mohammed Eshkab, who awarded his PhD from University of Coventry (UK), in 2011, has worked as a full-time faculty member since earning his master's degree in forestry in 1999 from Putra Malaysia University - Faculty of Forestry. Over 20 years Dr. Ibrahim Eshkab has contributed to many scientific activities such as where teaching several courses related to forestry science to undergraduate students as well as graduate students in the department. He also held many positions at the level of pasture, forestry and college. These include:

• Head of Range and Forestry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Tripoli Libya, 2012-2017.
• Chairman of the Scientific Program Development Board for Graduate Studies, Range and Forestry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Tripoli University (April 2019 to date).
• Member of the editorial board of the Libyan Journal of Agricultural Sciences from 2021 to date.
• President of the Disciplinary Committee of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Tripoli (March 2020-September 2023).
• Member of the Technical and Formal Specifications Assessment Committee for Master's Thesis of the Faculty of Agriculture (2022-2023).

Research Interests

Associate Professor. Dr: Ibrahim Ahmed EShkab has over 20 years' experience in forestry science. His research interest deals with Eco-Physiological screening and development of forest trees and shrubs species. Specific research interest includes abiotic environmental effects, particularly salinity and drought on the germination and development of forest trees and shrubs. Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Eshkab also is also interested in applying seed invigoration techniques to enhance seed and seedling vigor under both normal and abnormal growth conditions. He is also interested in the possibility of restoring degraded lands and using saline water to plant forest trees and shrubs of economic importance to reduce pressure on fertile land and freshwater resources. In addition, beside teaching several courses to undergraduate students, he is involved in the forestry and Range MSc program.

External Activities

During his work at the University, Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Eshkab contributed to many scientific programs and activities with many local and international institutions dealing with forest and environmental affairs. These include:

§  Chairman of the Scientific Committee to Study the Environmental Impacts of quarries in the Central Libya Region (2013 - 2014).

§  Development of the academic program of the Faculty of Natural Resources of the University of Jafara (2019 - 2020).

§  Updating of Libya's National Plan to Combat Desertification in Libya- NAP- in cooperation with the National Committee to Combat Desertification and the Arab Centre for Drylands and Arid Lands Studies (ACSAD) (2014 to date).

§  Scientific review and evaluation of scientific articles for many local and international scientific journals.

§  Published some scientific papers in partnership with non-Libyan academics.
