Roles

Haifa Mohammed Duzan is a faculty member in the Department of Plant Protection at the Faculty of Agriculture, Tripoli. She has been a professor at the University of Tripoli since June 8, 2021, and has numerous scientific publications in her field of specialization.

Ms. Duzan has supervised and evaluated many master's theses. She regularly publishes her research in various peer-reviewed local and international journals and has participated in many local and international conferences related to her specialization.

She currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. She has also evaluated scientific research submitted to the General Authority for Scientific Research and the Ministry of Agriculture. Additionally, she is a board member of the Consultation and Research Center at the University of Tripoli and an advisory board member for the Green Innovation Program at the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils. She also worked as a contact point for the Horizon Europe 2021-2027 program and has reviewed numerous scientific papers published in academic journals.

Careers

She worked as a faculty member, assistant lecturer in the Department of Plant Protection at the University of Tripoli since 1993. until she obtained her master's degree.  In 2004, she earned her Ph.D. from McGill University in Canada.

She has held several leadership positions, including head of the postgraduate studies committee in the Department of Plant Protection , then director of the Postgraduate Studies Office, vice-dean for scientific affairs, and finally, dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Tripoli since 12l06l2022. 

Research Interests

Dr. Haifa Mohammed Duzan's research interests focus on scientific issues related to the integrated management of plant diseases and the identification of pathogenic and non-pathogenic organisms.

In this regard, her interests have covered several areas, including:

·         Biological control of plant diseases

·         Fungal identification

·         Identification and characterization of the desert truffle fungus in the Libyan environment

·         Research into the applications of plant disease control

External Activities

Dr. Haifa Mohammed Duzan has contributed to the scientific evaluation of numerous papers submitted for publication in various academic journals. She has also chaired many scientific conferences. She is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Tripoli.
