Careers

Omar was appointed at the University of Tripoli, Department of Arabic Language/Faculty of Education, as an Assistant Lecturer after preparing his Master's thesis in 1994. Omar progressed in his career from a Lecturer to an Assistant Professor by 1998. In 2000, Omar was sent to Egypt to complete his specialized studies.

After obtaining his doctorate, Omar returned in 2005 to teach in the same department and college. He advanced from an Assistant Professor to a Professor by 2017, where he taught various specialized subjects such as pre-Islamic literature, Abbasid and modern literature, literary criticism at its various stages, and rhetoric in its three sciences (Meaning, Expression, and Beautification).

Research Interests

Omar has a keen interest in a literary and critical group known as the Diwan Group or Diwan School. They are a collection of Egyptian literary critics born in the late nineteenth century, with interests in literature and criticism. They focus on the Arab romantic or elegiac trend. They were disciples of English critics like Hazlitt, Wordsworth, and Coleridge. This direction is concerned with the plight of the hardworking citizen who is tossed by fate in society.

- Omar taught at Al Asmariya University in Zliten during the years 2008, 2009, and 2010.

- Omar also taught at the Faculty of Arts in Tarhuna in postgraduate stages during 2013, 2014, and 2015.

- Omar worked as a linguistic editor in universities and colleges related to humanities, such as the Faculty of Social Sciences and the departments of humanities in universities and higher institutes concerned with this field.
