Roles

Samia Abdullah is one of the staff members at the Translation & Arabization Department/ Faculty of Languages. She got her MA Degree in Translation and Interpreting at the Libyan Academy/ Janzoor in 2010. She attended two 8 week intensive courses in Translation and Interpreting at Salford University/ UK  in 2003 & 2004. She had been working as a translator at the National Board of Information & Documentation/ Al Jamhooria Street for 8 years before she started working at the department on 21/04/2012, translating news from BBC & CNN channels.  She started her Ph.D. study at the Libyan Academy in Applied Linguistics. She finished the required courses and passed the required comprehensive exam. She is now preparing for the thesis proposal. She worked as a chairperson of the Preparatory Committee of the International Libyan Conference on Translation Studies which was held on 1st of October/ 2022.

Careers

Samia worked as a staff member at the Translation and Arabization Department teaching most of the subjects of the Department. She also supervised many graduation researches. 

Research Interests

Samia is interested in research in Translation and Comparative Linguistics. She is also interested in research in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Analysis.

External Activities

Samia cooperated with many private universities and Language Centres. She worked with Al Refaq University, and Tripoli Alahlia University as a part-time staff member in English Department. She also gave English courses and Translation courses at many centres. She worked with Easy Way Aviation Centre, teaching English to students of Flight Attendance and Flight Dispatcher domains. ٍShe also participated in conducting the final exam of English Speaking Skills at the Open University.
