Roles

Ashraf Gnidi is a faculty member in the Department of Interior Design, Faculty of Arts and Design, with the rank of lecturer. He holds a master's degree from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy. Mr. Ashraf worked at the University of Tripoli in his field of specialization as a collaborator in 2007, then as a permanent faculty member from 2011 until now. He taught a number of courses and prepared specific programs for the requirements of the academic program in the field of specialization. He was also assigned to chair and be a member of several committees, supervise the implementation of many programs and training courses, in addition to supervising graduation projects within the academic program provided by the department. He also participated in developing new teaching techniques and methodology in the Department of Interior Design, and has many scientific publications in the field of specialization.

Careers

• Before joining the University of Tripoli, Mr. Ashraf worked in the private sector as an engineer at Madrar General Contracting and Engineering Works Company from 2007 to 2011, progressing from Quantity Surveyor to Site Management Supervisor and then Director of Administrative Affairs. After obtaining his Master's degree in 2006, he worked in a number of university colleges and higher institutes as a cooperating faculty member by teaching many specialized subjects in addition to supervising many graduation projects and various topics for Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Interior Design majors in addition to students of higher institute diplomas. He was also assigned the following administrative and academic tasks:
• 2013 - Head of the Interior Design Department at the Faculty of Arts and Media.
• 2016 - Head of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Media - University of Tripoli.
• 2016 - Member of the Scientific Council at the Faculty of Arts and Media.
• 2022 - Head of the Department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Arts and Media - University of Tripoli.
• 2022 - Member of the Scientific Council at the Faculty of Arts and Media.

Research Interests

• Ecological design and sustainable development programs.
• Local traditional architecture.

• Organizing specialized exhibitions in the fields of arts and architecture.

External Activities

● Member of the Jury in the First Competition for Architectural and Interior Design held at the level of Libyan universities under the organization of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, November 2022.

● Member of the Syndicate of Engineering Professions - Tripoli.

● Member of the Libyan Architecture Authority.

● Member of the International Association of Interior Design (NCIDQ).
