Dr. Muna Hammuda is currently a full-time Lecturer in the Statistics and Econometrics Department in Faculty of Economics and Political Science at University of Tripoli.

She teaches the undergraduate- level statistics courses, serves as academic counsellor to students, delivers training in Data Analysis and Statistical Modeling in R statistical programming language, and collaborates with department academics to redesign and develop a precise curriculum with clear learning outcomes. She uses a combination of traditional and progressive methodologies in delivering education in physical and virtual settings, with an emphasis on field and experiential learning whenever possible.

Careers

Dr. Muna Hammuda received the B.Sc. degree and M.Sc. degrees in Statistics in 1993 and 2006, respectively, from the University of Tripoli. From 2006 to 2010 she taught at the Department of Statistics and Econometrics, University of Tripoli. In 2009 she held the position of Head of the Department of Statistics and Econometrics, University of Tripoli. She received her second M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Mathematics with Statistics Emphasis in 2017 and 2018, respectively, from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA. In 2008, she became an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Statistics and Econometrics Department, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, University of Tripoli. From 2016 to 2017 she was a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Missouri University of Science and Technology, where she became a Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2018-2019. She is presently the Lecturer at Statistics and Econometrics Department, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, University of Tripoli.

Research Interests

Dr. Hammuda's research focuses mainly on the field of stochastic analysis and its applications. She is particularly interested in statistical modelling and testing using counting process and martingale techniques. In this context, she developed the Cox-type model with recurrent event data. In addition, she provided graphical methods for checking the validity of Cox-type model. She has also worked in the area of quality control, queueing system, and financial and econometric time series modelling.
