Research Interests
Research Area
· Environmental Biology, Environmental microbiology, understanding the science of biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons (Phytoremediation, mycoremediation) and characterising the microbial communities of the oil products using genetic tools.
· Ecology
· Sampling and Analysis
· Bioremediation for removal of degradable organic pollutants
· Bioinformatics software and tools
· Aquatic ecosystem (Cyanobacteria and cyanophages)
External Activities
During my scientific career, I studied the causes of the collapse of blue-green bacteria (Arthrospira) in Lake Bogoria in Kenya, as they are the main food for flamingos, and also identified the dominant species of this genus using modern genetic techniques (SGS). I also attended scientific conferences on cyanophages in Liverpool, Bacteriophages 2016, as well as Oxford Bacteriophage Conference - Phages 2019
