Roles

Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Atumi is a staff member at Physics the Department of  Physics, Faculty of Education, University of Tripoli. Dr. Atumi is an assistant professor and the head of the Department of Physics. He has several publications related to his specialization in  the first-principles simulation of defects in semiconductors, crystal surfaces, nano-structures and dielectrics.

Careers

Dr.  Atumi worked as a medical physicist at the Tripoli Medical Center (TMC) from 2000 to 2006; three years in the Department of radiotherapy and the other three years, he worked as a head of the Medical Physics Unit in the Department of Nuclear Medicine. After he got the master’s degree from the department of Physics, University of Tripoli in 2005, he moved at the end of 2006 to Al-Zaytoonah University as an assistant lecturer in the faculty of Science. After he got his PhD in 2014 from Newcastle University - UK and returning to the university, he held the position of the Head of the Department of Physics until 2019. At the end of 2019, he moved to the faculty of Education, Qasr Bin Gashir, University of Tripoli, and held the position of the Department of physics until 2022.  He moved then to the Faculty of Education,   University of Tripoli.

Research Interests

Interestes in studying the effect of defects on the electrical and optical properties of some materials such as diamond and silicon, as well as studying some of these impurities in the presence of the surface trying to understand the mechanism of formation of these impurities by introducing impurities on different diamond surfaces. Also studies the hyperfine interactions of some impurities in diamonds. This study can be done by using the AIMPRO program, which is based based upon the function density theorem.

External Activities

Dr. Atumi taught many courses in physics in several faculties, including Faculty of Science at University of Gharyan, Faculty of Engineering at University of Tripoli, Faculty of Electronics Ben Ashour and faculty of Medical Professions, Tripoli. Also, worked at Tripoli Medical center as a medical physics in radiotherapy department
