Roles

**Hanan El-Rqeq ** is a faculty member in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Engineering. She has been working as a lecturer at the University of Tripoli since March 19, 2019, where she delivers lectures, supervises graduation projects, and currently holds the position of Acting Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. Additionally, she is a member of the Scientific Committee, the Admissions Exam Committee for new students, and the Graduation Project Evaluation Committee. Since 2019, she has been the academic program coordinator in the department and contributed to the latest edition of the Faculty of Engineering guidebook. In 2023, Hanan took on the role of Director of the Women’s Support and Empowerment Office at the Faculty of Engineering, and she served as a member of the preparatory committee for the "Tripoli: The New Face" symposium held at the Faculty of Engineering under the theme “Towards a Sustainable Urban Environment.”Hanan contributed to the success of the department’s 50th-anniversary celebration held at the University of Tripoli in 2019, where she was part of the supervising committee and was responsible for producing the first edition of the department's magazine, *Architectural Perspectives.* She has also served on various committees for the department’s quarterly and annual exhibitions over several semesters.Hanan actively engages with her students in organizing workshops and community service activities, including the “Farashiya Workshop” and “Mirrors of Taste Workshop,” in addition to contributing to the design of entrances to historical cities in collaboration with the Historical Cities Committee and preparing a booklet on the facades of Sidi Al-Hattab Alley in the Old City.

She is particularly interested in the fields of technology, energy, and their impact on architecture and urbanism, and has several scientific publications in her field of expertise.

Research Interests

Ms. HananEL-Rqeq Is interested in scientific research fields related to modern technology, design, and energy. Her research focuses on computer applications in architecture and service technology, a focus she has pursued since preparing her master's thesis in early 2009, titled *intelligent Buildings... Towards an intelligent Building in Libya*. This was followed by other research publications in the same field. Additionally, she is interested in studying intangible heritage and exploring critical readings in art and architecture.

External Activities

• Delivering lectures and evaluating graduation projects in architecture. • Conducting research in the field of traditional attire. • Collaborating with the Heritage Cities Committee and contributing to the design of the entrances of some ancient cities.
