Roles
I am a faculty member in the Department of Geological Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tripoli, with academic and research experience encompassing university teaching, scientific research, student supervision, and academic development. My academic responsibilities include teaching and coordinating undergraduate courses, supervising graduation projects and student research, assessing academic work, and contributing to the continuous development of geological engineering education. Through my teaching and supervision activities, I have been involved in developing students’ understanding of geological and engineering concepts, while encouraging scientific reasoning, critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and the application of theoretical knowledge to practical problems. My scientific interests are primarily centred on geological and petroleum engineering, with particular emphasis on petrophysics, wellbore stability, and the evaluation and characterization of reservoir and source rocks. My research activities involve the integration and interpretation of geological, petrophysical, geophysical, and engineering data to develop a comprehensive understanding of subsurface formations and their properties. In petrophysical studies, I am interested in the quantitative evaluation of formation characteristics, including the interpretation of well-log data and the assessment of reservoir properties and quality. My research in wellbore stability focuses on the mechanical behaviour of subsurface formations, the identification and analysis of factors affecting wellbore integrity, and the evaluation of drilling-related challenges under varying geological and operational conditions. I am also engaged in the assessment of reservoir and source rocks, with an interest in their depositional, geological, petrophysical, and potential hydrocarbon-related characteristics, as well as the integration of these parameters for a more reliable evaluation of subsurface petroleum systems. These areas of research require a multidisciplinary approach that brings together geological interpretation, petrophysical analysis, rock mechanics, data evaluation, and engineering principles. In addition to my individual research activities, I participate in academic and scientific discussions and seek opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange within the broader geological and petroleum engineering community. I regard research, teaching, and academic supervision as interconnected elements of higher education and strive to maintain a research-informed approach to teaching while contributing to the advancement of knowledge in my field. My overall academic objective is to support the development of rigorous, evidence-based approaches to geological and petroleum engineering problems and to contribute to the advancement of research and higher education at the University of Tripoli.
