Key areas of expertise include:
1. Regional petroliferous basin analysis, mainly specialized in integrated regional sedimentary basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation, and hydrocarbon prospectivity assessment across Libya's major sedimentary basins, including the Sirt, Ghadames, and Murzuq basins, with expertise in both conventional and unconventional petroleum resources.
2. Petroleum system modeling specialist with extensive experience in multidimensional basin and petroleum system modeling, reconstructing burial history, thermal evolution, hydrocarbon generation, migration, accumulation, and preservation to reduce exploration risk and support field development strategies.
3. Source rock and petroleum geochemistry research: conducted comprehensive regional studies on source rock characterization, organofacies classification, thermal maturity, petroleum generation, petroleum geochemistry, and oil–gas to source rock correlation using integrated geological, geochemical, statistical, mathematical, and basin modeling approaches.
4. Petroleum resource assessment and exploration mainly performed regional and field-scale petroleum resource assessments to evaluate petroleum charge systems, hydrocarbon distribution, play fairway analysis, and unconventional shale oil and gas potential, supporting exploration strategies in both mature and frontier sedimentary basins.
5. Research and development innovation contributed to multidisciplinary research and development projects in collaboration with the PetroChina Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development (RIPED), Beijing, China, integrating large-scale geological and geochemical databases, advanced basin modeling technologies, and digital interpretation workflows to improve exploration efficiency and reduce petroleum exploration uncertainty.

1.1 Integrated advanced reservoir geology studies
Conduct comprehensive geological investigations of petroleum reservoirs through the integration of geological, petrophysical, and reservoir characterization techniques.
1.2 Reservoir reserve estimation using mathematical modeling and advanced statistical analysis
Apply mathematical modeling and advanced statistical methods to estimate hydrocarbon reserves and quantify reservoir uncertainties.
1.3 Integrated petrophysical evaluation of hydrocarbon reservoirs
Evaluate reservoir petrophysical properties, including porosity, permeability, fluid saturation, and lithological characteristics, using integrated analytical approaches.
1.4 Reservoir temperature and pressure prediction studies and their relationship to petrophysical properties
Investigate subsurface temperature and pressure distributions and assess their influence on reservoir quality, fluid behavior, and petrophysical characteristics.
2. Integrated petroleum system analysis and basin modeling
2.1 Petroleum system characterization
Identify and evaluate all essential petroleum system elements, including source rocks, reservoir rocks, seals, traps, and migration pathways, to understand their relationships and assess the overall effectiveness of the petroleum system.
2.2 Geological and thermal history reconstruction
Reconstruct the depositional, burial, structural deformation, and thermal maturation history of sedimentary basins to determine the timing of hydrocarbon generation, migration, and accumulation throughout geological history.
2.3 Hydrocarbon generation, migration, and accumulation modeling
Develop two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) basin models to simulate hydrocarbon generation, expulsion, migration, entrapment, and preservation, while evaluating petroleum charge efficiency and hydrocarbon resource distribution.
2.4 Petroleum exploration risk assessment
Integrate geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets to evaluate petroleum system risks, assess exploration success probability, reduce exploration uncertainty, and identify the most prospective exploration targets.

Utilize integrated basin modeling results to support exploration and field development decisions, improve reserve estimation, prioritize investment opportunities, and optimize petroleum resource management at the basin scale.

Evaluate source rock quality through the characterization of organic matter type, thermal maturity, hydrocarbon generation potential, and hydrocarbon retention capacity to assess unconventional resource potential.
3.2 Integrated well log analysis for unconventional reservoir characterization
Analyze well log data to determine reservoir properties, including porosity, permeability, fluid saturation, mineral composition, and natural fracture systems that influence production performance.
3.3 Sweet spot identification (SPI)
Integrate geological, petrophysical, geochemical, and geomechanical data to identify sweet spots with superior reservoir quality and the highest production and development potential.
4. Advanced sedimentary basin geothermal energy studies
4.1 Sedimentary basin thermal system evaluation
Assess basin thermal regimes through the analysis of geothermal gradients, heat flow, and subsurface temperature distributions to understand basin thermal evolution and its geological significance.
4.2 Burial history and thermal maturity analysis
Reconstruct depositional, burial, uplift, and erosion histories to evaluate thermal evolution, source rock maturation, and the timing of hydrocarbon generation.
4.3 Geothermal energy resource assessment
Identify and evaluate geothermal resource potential by assessing subsurface temperature conditions, reservoir depth, rock properties, and geological characteristics to determine the suitability of sedimentary basins for geothermal energy development.
