Prof. Dr. Abdurahman Hassen is one of the staff members at the Mechanical & Industrial department of faculty of engineering. He is working as a since 2009-09-30. Careers
In recent years, Prof. Dr. Abdu-Rahman established the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center at the university, where the Minister of Education officially issued the establishment decision in March 2018. The center aims to spread the culture of entrepreneurship among students and help them develop their projects and turn them into emerging companies. In this context, Dr. Abdul Rahman supervises the implementation of several different activities, entrepreneurship training courses, competitions for the best project idea, exhibitions and workshops. As well as building cooperative relationships with the public and private sectors, including coordination with the Libyan Iron and Steel Company Misurata to conclude a cooperation agreement between the university and the company. The agreement was signed by the President of the University and the General Manager of the company on 07/20/2022 at the company’s headquarters in Misurata, as well as coordination with the municipality of Tripoli, the center, to conclude a cooperation agreement in the field of administration and local development. Member of the Grand National Competition Committee for Information Systems at the level of higher education institutions in Libya
· He is also a member of the committee preparing the regulations organizing the work of leadership and innovation centers in Libyan universities until it was finalized and the regulations were approved by Minister’s Decision No. (1633) of 2022.
· Member of the Joint Supervision Committee by the University President’s Decision No. 2159 dated 11/13/2016 to prepare the provisions regulating the joint supervision system in accordance with the policy of graduate studies programs implemented in the scientific departments of the university’s colleges, and the regulations were approved by the University Council.
Member of the University’s International Cooperation Office Committee from October 2012 to July 2017, with the mission of coordinating and participating in national and international projects that deal with the supervision of European Union programs for higher education, bilateral agreements (KA1 & KA2) of Erasmus + projects, and scholarships. Negotiating the preparation of memorandums of understanding and bilateral agreements, as well as organizing academic vacations...the ability to adapt to a multicultural environment and the ability to communicate and work in a team spirit. He was also assigned the duties of director of the university’s International Cooperation Office (as an assignee) several times.
Coordinator of the University of Tripoli in the project to support local administration and development with the Municipality of Tripoli Center and the European Union delegation to support Libyan municipalities in local administration and development and supervising a training program for employees of the Municipality of Tripoli Center
· Head of the Cultural Relations Department at the College of Engineering from November 2011 to March 2018, organizing dozens of different activities such as artistic workshops and academic and cultural discussion sessions, as well as Chairman of the Graduates Celebration Committee, where the largest graduation ceremony witnessed by the College of Engineering was organized on 04/06. In 2016, the number of graduates reached 3,300, covering four academic years from spring 2011 to spring 2015. In addition, a graduation ceremony was organized on March 24, 2017 for graduates of the 2016/2017 academic year (fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters). The number of graduates reached 700 graduates.

Research Interests
Prof. Dr. AbduRahman is a faculty member in the Applied Division of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering. He has many scientific publications in the field of structural design and analysis and the application of Structural Optimization theories, especially Structure Topology Optimization. He is also interested in the science of composite materials. He has publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and participated in international and local scientific conferences. He was an academic visitor at Riga Technical University in Latvia, during which he presented lectures in his specialty to students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Riga Technical University, as well as a discussion panel for postgraduate students, attended by faculty members in the department, which was about optimal design.
External Activities
Prof. Dr. Abdurahman, in addition to international cooperation and linking the University of Tripoli with joint cooperation relations, implemented many activities, the most important of which are:
· Supervising and coordinating a workshop funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), in order to deepen cooperation between the University of Tripoli and the University of Cologne (Germany), on fact-finding in the field of methods and methods of education in higher education institutions, coordinating with several colleges, in which ten members participated. Faculty from the faculties of engineering, agriculture, dentistry, arts and media (in the period between 3-6 September 2018 in Cologne)
Director of the “WHEEL” project to modernize the higher education program in Libya.” ERASMUS + HE KA2 program in the period between February 2018 and July 2020. The project aimed to contribute to developing a vision for the Libyan higher education system that can successfully confront many social, economic and cultural challenges through analysis Capacity building, institutional development and strategic planning measures for the Libyan context.
· Supervising and coordinating a workshop funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), a workshop to deepen cooperation between the University of Tripoli and the University of Giessen (Germany) on fact-finding in the field of human geography while expanding the scope of cooperation. It was coordinated with the College of Arts and a group of faculty members from the Geography Department participated in it (in the period between November 13-16, 2018 in Tunisia)
Supervising and coordinating a workshop funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The workshop aims to deepen cooperation between the University of Tripoli and TH KOLN (Germany) in the field of mobile construction machinery and to further develop the date harvesting machine. Coordination increased with the College of Engineering for the participation of six professors from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (in the period between August 13-16, 2018 in Cologne)
Coordination with the German University of Leipzig (LEIPZIG) to organize and supervise a workshop on curriculum development and the current state of scientific research in the fields of design (media design, product design, branding, ...). Coordination was made with the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Media for the participation of three professors. From the Department of Architecture/Faculty of Engineering and three from the Department of Interior Design/Faculty of Arts and Media (in the period between 19-21 September 2017 in Djerba)
Academic visitor to Riga Technical University - Latvia, (in the period between April 24-29, 2017) The academic visit came within the framework of the Erasmus Plus program - the European Union, and included delivering two lectures to final and second-year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Riga Technical University, as well as a panel discussion with professors. The department also had a meeting with the Vice Rector for Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the Director of the International Cooperation Office at the University of Riga, to discuss aspects of cooperation between the University of Tripoli and the University of Riga, and a tour around the university to see the university’s capabilities, which included the university’s business incubator, library, laboratories, workshops, and boarding houses for students.
