Prof. Ali Mehdi Hatab is one of our staff members in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial and started work with the Department since 2002 as lecturer. Prof. Hatab is engaged in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. As supervisor prof. Hatab has three completions of Master (MSc.) thesis and several BSc. projects. He has several contributions in area of research & development, and published several research papers with his colleagues locally and internationally recognized journals and conferences in the area related to mechanical and manufacturing

Research Interests
Recently, Prof. hatab and his colleagues are interest in application of Grey-based Taguchi Theory in the research area of wind energy, casting of light weight alloys, welding of aluminum alloys, Heat treatment processes, removal processes, to optimize properties and process parameters. He has published in a range of peer reviewed, locally and internationally recognized, journals and conferences. These include the Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, , International October Conference (IOC) on Mining and Metallurgy, Journal of Mining and Metallurgy, Journal of Multidisciplinary Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST), International Conference on Metallurgy and Materials, Journal of Engineering Research, and The Metallurgical Society of CIM
External Activities
The sabbatical leave for Prof. Hatab was spent at Dept. of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Vienna University of Technology as Guest Professor for three months started on Aug. 2012 to Nov. 2012. He performed several mechanical testing and heat treatment for Aluminum alloys AA6061 in optimizing manufacturing process parameters to produce the optimal microstructure and thus improving properties and performance of the alloy. The research work results in completion of 4 research papers published in recognized Conference on Metallurgy and Materials and International October Conference (IOC) on Mining and Metallurgy.
