Journal Policies

Authorship Policy

The journal follows strict guidelines for determining authorship eligibility. This policy aims to ensure transparency and accountability in academic attribution. All listed authors must meet the following criteria: (1) Substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; (2) Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; (3) Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work to ensure the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work.

Author Self-Archiving Policy

The Libyan Journal of Informatics encourages authors to self-archive copies of their published articles in institutional or subject repositories, on their personal websites, or in open databases. This policy allows authors to post pre-print, post-review (post-print), and the final published version (publisher's PDF). Self-archiving aims to increase the accessibility and dissemination of research, which enhances citations and scientific impact.

Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy

The Libyan Journal of Informatics acknowledges the rapid development of artificial intelligence tools and their applications in scientific research. The journal allows the use of AI tools in the preparation of manuscripts, such as for writing assistance, data analysis, or improving phrasing, provided that this use is clearly and transparently disclosed in the methodology or acknowledgments section. However, the journal emphasizes that AI tools cannot be considered authors, and authors must bear full responsibility for the content and accuracy of the submitted work. Any undisclosed or unethical use of AI tools may lead to the manuscript's rejection or retraction.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice

The Libyan Journal of Informatics is committed to the highest standards of publishing ethics and follows the guidelines of the university's Publication Ethics Committee. The journal expects all parties involved in the publishing process (authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers) to adhere to strict ethical principles. This includes avoiding research misconduct such as fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism. In the event of suspected malpractice, the journal will take appropriate actions, which may include the retraction of the article or imposing a ban on future publication in the journal.

Data Sharing Policy

The Libyan Journal of Informatics encourages authors to share the raw data that supports the results of their published research to enhance transparency, replicability, and the verification of research validity. Authors should provide a statement regarding data availability in their manuscripts, explaining how the data can be accessed (e.g., deposited in a public data repository or provided upon request). This policy aims to promote open research practices and encourage the scientific community to make the most of research data, while considering privacy and confidentiality issues where necessary.

Open Access Policy

The Libyan Journal of Informatics is committed to publishing scientific research under an open access system, which means that all published articles will be immediately and freely available to everyone. This policy aims to promote the wide-scale exchange of knowledge and scientific innovation, and to ensure maximum dissemination and impact of published research. Users are free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to the full texts of the articles, and to use them for any legal purpose without prior permission from the publisher or author, provided that the original source is properly cited.

Plagiarism Policy

The Libyan Journal of Informatics has a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism. Therefore, all submitted manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software (Plagiarism Checker X) to ensure content originality. This includes self-plagiarism, which is the reuse of substantial parts of an author's previously published work without proper citation. In the event that plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be immediately rejected, and other disciplinary actions may be taken.

Peer Review Policy

The journal adopts a Double-Blind Peer Review policy to ensure the quality and reliability of published research. In this process, reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. This aims to evaluate research with complete objectivity based on its scientific content and methodology, away from any personal or institutional biases. Reviewers are committed to providing constructive and detailed evaluations in a timely manner to help authors improve their work and ensure the highest standards of scientific publishing.

Conflict of Interest Policy

The journal requires all authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any conflict of interest that may affect the objectivity or integrity of the publishing process. Conflicts of interest include financial, personal, or academic relationships that may influence professional judgment. Authors must disclose any financial support or other relationships with organizations that may have an interest in the research outcomes. Reviewers and editors are committed to disclosing any potential conflicts of interest that may affect their ability to objectively evaluate manuscripts, and in such cases, they must recuse themselves from the review or editorial process. This policy aims to ensure transparency and integrity at all stages of publishing.

Copyright Policy

The Libyan Journal of Informatics retains the copyright for published articles, while granting authors the right to retain their own copyrights. The journal allows the reuse of published content under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-NC), which permits others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the author's work for non-commercial purposes, as long as the original author is credited. This policy aims to strike a balance between protecting authors' rights and ensuring maximum access and dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Error Correction

The Libyan Journal of Informatics is committed to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the scientific record. In the event that substantive errors are discovered in a published article, whether by authors, readers, or editors, the journal will take appropriate corrective actions immediately. This may include publishing a correction for errors that do not affect the main results or conclusions, or publishing a retraction for articles containing grave errors or research misconduct. This policy aims to maintain the integrity of the scientific record and provide accurate information to the research community.
