This study was conducted to examine the strategies used by Libyan secondary schools in Tripoli. In addition, the study seeks to reveal the obstacles that face those teachers in their  classes. According to the obstacles mentioned by the teachers, some suggestions were provided to investigate some strategies to develop speaking skills of students in Libyan secondary schools. The study aims to answer two research questions through which the research aims to answer. To answer the research questions, the study adopted a triangulation of quantitative and qualitative design through using a questionnaire and an interview. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of using some strategies to enhancing speaking skills inside classrooms for learners when dealing with the speaking classroom activities at secondary schools. Three schools were chosen to this study. The reasons for choosing these schools were because randomly. The methodology used in this research was a qualitative research method, and quantitative method. The tools used were questionnaire and semi- structured interviews. Concerning the main findings in this research, most of them were teacher based in which they have to follow some teaching techniques during the class in order to improve the learners' oral skills.

The research findings showed that the teachers of English subject manifested negative attitudes towards using some strategies inside classrooms . In addition, some reasons that neglected these strategies were determined. Solutions for enabling applying students to developing speaking  skill to be incorporated in secondary schools were also suggested.
