Ahmed Zaid is one of the staff members at the department of Biochemistry faculty of Medicine. He is working as a since 2012-09-01. Research Interests

Autosomal dominant hypercholesterolemia (ADH) is characterized by elevated LDL - cholesterol levels leading to coronary heart disease. Four genes are implicated in ADH: LDLR, APOB, PCSK9 and APOE. Our aim was to identify new mutations in known genes, or in new genes implicated in ADH. We use different methods like PCR, DNA sequencing, electrophoresis, RT-PCR, HRM and Bioinformatics to identify new mutations that can cause the human disease Familial Hypercholesterolemia.
