Roles
Dr. Sana Taher Musa Ashur has taught at the Family and Community Medicine Department, Faculty of Medicine, Tripoli university since 2018, first as a lecturer, and currently as an assistant professor. Her undergraduate teaching has largely focused on biostatistics and data analysis. She has also provided several courses on advanced biostatistics and mastering data analysis using SPSS designed for postgraduate students and scholars. Dr. Sana has published several research papers in repute peer-reviewed international journals. Besides teaching and research, she contributed to the administrative work at the department as a coordinator and assistant coordinator of the community medicine courses in some semesters.
Careers
Prior to joining the University of Tripoli as a teaching-staff member in 2018, and after obtaining her bachelor of medicine and surgery from the same university in 2000, Dr. Sana has worked as a demonstrator in the same university from 2000 to 2006, when she was a awarded a scholarship to study abroad. Besides that, she has worked for many years as a general practitioner in the Libyan health sector. Thereafter, she obtained her master’s (2011) and PhD degrees (2016) in community medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Malaysia (UKM).
Since then, Dr. Sana has published several research papers in repute peer-reviewed international journals. She had also presented some scientific papers in international public health conferences. She has also attended several scientific workshops pertained to advanced research methods and advanced statistics like those on Structural Equation Model (SEM), qualitative data analysis using NVivo, mastering data analysis using SPSS, analysis of questionnaire and survey data: multivariate statistical techniques, and publishing in اHigh Impact Journals. She has obtained advanced courses in epidemiology, clinical biostatistics and advanced biostatistics.
Research Interests
Dr. Sana’s research interests are wide, but focus mainly on the non-communicable disease, particularly diabetes, mental health, as well as the assessment of the psychometric properties of research tools. She has published several research papers in repute peer-reviewed international journals, including high impact journals like the Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal, the Libyan Journal of Medicine, Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine and the Asian Journal of Psychiatry. She had also presented some scientific papers in international public health conferences like the 16th and the 17th national public health colloquium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the 4th and the 5th international public health conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
External Activities
Dr. Sana has provided several courses on advanced biostatistics and mastering data analysis using SPSS, as well as on the critical appraisal of data analysis methods and findings for clinicians, and the Libyan medical board candidates. She has also participated as an external evaluator/ examiner in the evaluation of several theses that were submitted to fulfill the requirement of the Libyan medical board. Dr. Sana was among the trainees who attended the training sessions in PAVIA, Italy and Grenada, Spain under the SAHA “raiSe libyAn Higher education heAlth sector for the benefit of local society” project.
