Careers

Dr. Zainab Karima obtained her Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2002, then became a teaching assistant in the Department of Microbiology and Medical Immunology from 2003 to 2013, then an assistant lecturer from 2013 to 2017, then a lecturer from 2017 to 2021, then an assistant professor from 2021 to the present. 

She participated as a member of the college's examination committee for several years and a course coordinator in the department for several semesters. 

Research Interests

Research interests include studying bacterial infections (bacteria, viruses, fungi) for example, by isolating the pathogens and studying their resistance to antibiotics and other indicators. In addition to trying to discover new nutritional media to isolate and identify some types of fungi. 

Some of this research was participated in some conferences, including the Second Postgraduate Studies Conference. Benghazi - Libya and the Arab Conference on Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology. Tunis - Hammamet.

External Activities

Prior to becoming a faculty member, she participated in a training course in laboratory science held at Bioscientia Institute and Laboratories, Ingelheim, Germany. She helped supervise the training of students and graduates of the Medical Technology College the field of microbiology.
