Elloulu BenDarif is a faculty member in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Elloulu BenDarif has been working at the University of Tripoli as an assistant professor since 12/16/2016 and has many scientific publications in her field of specialization.Her current duties are teaching and conducting some scientific research in the department, which has published in well-known international scientific journals. She also supervises the dissertation of three postgraduate students (Masters) affiliated with the Libyan Academy.During the period 2020-2022, she was the supervisor of the Student Evaluation Committee, which helped the Faculty of Medicine obtain international program accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education.

Careers

Before joining the University of Tripoli, I started working as a research assistant in the Public Health Laboratories and the Infectious Diseases Research Center in Tripoli in the year (1990-1994), including a researcher in parasitology in the laboratory unit of the veterinary clinic at the Tripoli Zoo in the year (1995-1996). From 2000-2004, I joined the University of Tripoli as an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry and a microbiologist at Tripoli Central Hospital. During 2011-2016, I was a lecturer in the Department of Microbiology and Medical Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tripoli, and during the same period as the Head of the Microbiology Department at Tripoli University Hospital. From 2020 to 2022, she headed the Department of Microbiology and Medical Immunology at the University of Tripoli, with the rank of Assistant Professor

Research Interests

My research interests mainly focus on molecular medical microbiology, and I supervise a group of postgraduate students in this field. Additionally, I worked on medical bacteriology, particularly focusing on antimicrobial resistance. In another area of research, I supervise a group of postgraduate students on topics related to health care, especially the spread of hepatitis B and C among medical and paramedical staff.

External Activities

-          Responsible for serving as the National Focal Point for the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) of the World Health Organization.
