Mohamed Elagili is a faculty member in the Department of Parasitology at the Faculty of Medicine. He has been working as an assistant lecturer at the University of Tripoli since November 1, 2015. He has participated in several departmental committees, including the Exam Preparation Committee, the Quality Assurance Committee, and the Oral Exams Committee. He has overseen theoretical, practical, and oral exams, and has also been involved in organizing educational exhibitions in collaboration with the student union at the Faculty of Medicine. He has scientific publications in his field of specialization, some of which are published while others are in preparation.
Careers
Dr.Elagili began his academic career in 2011 as a teaching assistant in the Department of Medical Parasitology, where he supervised laboratories and taught medical students. His responsibilities included overseeing exams, preparing laboratory materials and slides, grading midterm and final exams, and contributing to the educational process within the department. He completed his postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, earning a master's degree, and was appointed as a faculty member in 2016. Since then, Dr. Al-Ajeeli has served as a member of the Quality Assurance and Curriculum Development Committees, as well as the Departmental Exam Committee. He currently teaches students, prepares exams, supervises several research projects in the laboratory, and works as an assistant lecturer.
Research Interests
Dr. Elagili is focused on studying parasites that have severe consequences on human health. His research interests include the study of Toxoplasma and the level of awareness among medical students regarding it, the prevalence of Giardia, the serious disease malaria, and pinworm infections, which are common among children in schools and nurseries. In addition to these interests, Dr. Al-Ajeeli focuses on clinically significant parasites and their impact on public health.
External Activities
Dr. Elagili is working on preparing scientific references related to the practical aspect for students. He is also preparing for a collaboration between the Department of Parasitology and the Center for Endemic Diseases to conduct research with significant medical relevance on endemic diseases. Additionally, the department collaborates with the Faculty of Agriculture on scientific research aimed at understanding the impact of parasites on daily nutrition.
