Description
The SAHA Master of Healthcare Management project supported by the European Commission under the EU’s Erasmus+ program was approved during a meeting held in Sirte in March 2022. This project aims to design a detailed curriculum for implementation by Libyan partner universities at the postgraduate level in the field of healthcare management.
A decision was issued by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (No. 373/2023) authorizing the targeted universities to begin implementing the postgraduate program. This was subsequently amended by Ministerial Decision No. 317/2024, tasking the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Tripoli’s Faculty of Medicine with delivering the Master of Healthcare Management academic program. The program is implemented under the supervision of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, led by Professor Mohamed Khaled Shambesh, with Dr. Nasser Mohamed Al-Nuwairi appointed as the program's General Coordinator.
The program utilizes a distinguished faculty specializing in administrative, financial, and medical sciences to deliver curricula comprising 13 specialized and general courses over three consecutive semesters. Subsequently, a supervising professor is assigned to each student to guide the preparation of a master's thesis; this thesis addresses a specific problem or proposes an idea and scientific contribution aimed at improving healthcare operations and services within a Libyan health institution.
Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on enduring academic partnerships with specialized international universities under the regulation of the European Union and the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This includes sending students to European universities to study specific courses, thereby enhancing their acquisition of skills, knowledge, and modern techniques in healthcare leadership and management.
