Word Of the Head Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences
The Department of Medical Laboratories is one of the oldest scientific departments in the College of Medical Technology. It was established in 1986 AD, and after thirty years of continuous giving, the departments of medical laboratories and pathology were merged into one department called the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. The department aims to qualify specialized graduates with distinguished competence and advanced scientific ability It enables them to be able to absorb and apply all modern technologies in the field of laboratory medical diagnosis.
Like the rest of the departments of the College of Medical Technology, the student joins the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences upon passing the general stage, where they receive specialized, supportive and elective sciences within an integrated program that includes (33) (theoretical and practical) courses within a study program that is supervised and managed by a group of faculty members in the department.During their studies in the department, the student receives practical training in the college laboratories and in educational hospitals in order to acquire laboratory skills in the field of clinical chemistry, immunology, and blood banks. The student is also trained in conducting laboratory tests, microscopic examination, analysis of blood samples, and examination of body fluids and tissues.Upon passing the final exams for the eighth semester, the student goes through an internship period in one of the teaching hospitals, to obtain upon his graduation a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences

For the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences to become a pioneer in education and training in the field of medical laboratory sciences, scientific research and community service, and to compete with others like it in local and regional universities.
Mission
Graduating qualified cadres in the field of medical laboratory sciences, who possess knowledge, concepts, skills, and endowed with good scientific ethics by providing a university environment that stimulates creativity in the fields of applied medical scientific research.
Objectives
1. The Department of Medical Laboratories aims to graduate capable students that collect and analyze samples, data and information, and deal with modern equipment, by learning methods of detecting and diagnosing diseases.
2. Opening horizons for scientific research and its development by producing graduates who have the desire to continue studying and research scientifically through activating scientific and cultural seminars and raising awareness through various media forms.
3. Securing the needs of health complexes, health care and private laboratories in terms of materials and equipment to meet the increasing demand for health services.
4. Contributing to the sustainable human development of society through health services, scientific consultations, and research centers in the fields of laboratory technology.
5. Strengthening the cultural and scientific bonds with the corresponding colleges and scientific bodies in the country and the colleges of medical technology in Arab and foreign countries.
