ABDULBASET MOHAMED ABUSETTAa is a faculty member at the University of Tripoli, Faculty of Medical Technology / Department of Laboratory Science, with the rank of Professor. He teaches his specialized subjects theoretically and practically, holds study discussion groups for undergraduate and master’s studies, and office hours in the department, as well as academic supervision of students in the department.

Careers

Appointed at the University of Tripoli in 2003 as a faculty member with the rank of lecturer in the Department of Pathology, in 2006 as an assistant professor, in 2010 as an associate professor, and in 2014 as a professor.

Research Interests

Among the interests in my field of specialization in microbiology and immunology and my background as a pharmacist and master of laboratory diagnostics are

• Serological study of Helicobacter pylori infection in adults in Al-Khums, Libya.

• Isolation of microorganisms associated with urinary tract infection in diabetic patients in Libya and their susceptibility pattern to antibiotics.

• Prevalence of toxoplasmosis in non-pregnant women in Tripoli, Libya.

• Frequency of Enteroconcus spp isolated from food samples sold in Tripoli.

• Detection of anti-streptolysin O antibodies among rheumatic fever patients in Tripoli.

• Cytomegalovirus infection rate among blood donors in Tripoli, Libya.

• Common pathogens associated with bacteremia in newborns and their resistance pattern to antibiotics.

• Comparative study of detection of antinuclear antibodies using ELISA and immunofluorescent techniques.

• Cytomegalovirus infection rate among pregnant women in Al-Khums.

• The effect of antibiotics on bacteria causing otitis media
