Roles
Professor Nagib Ali Elmarzugi is one of the faculty members in the Department of Industrial Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Tripoli. He has been a university professor since 2018 and joined the Medical University after graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy since the beginning of January 1997. After the issuance of the decision to delegate to the Ministry of Education for postgraduate studies, he joined the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, Britain in the year 2000. The subject of postgraduate studies was the preparation and characterization study of bionano-complexes for gene therapy potential application. That included its formation into different pharmaceutical forms using technologies and industries at the nanoparticle level.
After obtaining his doctorate degree, (PhD from LBSA, Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Nottingham) he joined the Department of Industrial Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Tripoli (Formerly Alfateh University) as a faculty member since 2005. He has many scientific publications in his field of specialization. Scientific contributions, including scientific papers, specialized books, chapters in books, as well as scientific commentaries and scientific conferences, have exceeded more than 150 contributions. Prof. Dr. Nagib Elmarzugi supervised - and still - until 2024 - three doctoral theses and more than five master’s theses, most of which are in the field of Bio-Nanotechnology sciences. The researcher (founding - directors) founded and managed the National Nano Science and Technology Project at the Biotechnology Research Center at the Libyan Authority for Science and Technology for more than (14) years.
The research that was supervised and managed by the researcher initially focused on preparing and studying the properties of Silver – Golden nanoscale particles in order to use them as long-lasting sterilization materials in hospitals and various medical departments as well as research laboratories. Then the research developed and focused on preparing and studying characteristics of different pharmaceutical forms to find solutions to problems where typical pharmaceutical dosage forms face, such as stability and continuity of effect according to the dose and achieving the desired absorption from these forms. Nanoemulsion, nanoemulgel and nanocapsule forms were prepared. All this research has been published in prestigious scientific journals registered in the Scopus databases and indexed in the database Elsevier. A good number of this research was also participated in international, regional and local conferences, and the results of this research were presented in specialized scientific seminars at several of the universities of our country, such as Benghazi, Misrata, Al-Zawiya, Al-Bayda, and of course the University of Tripoli.
Among the fruits of this effort, may God grant us success in obtaining the competitive award of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils under the supervision of the League of Arab States, where we obtained second place for the year 2017, and we were honored by distributing awards in the city of Khartoum with a distinguished presence. We also obtained the Creativity and Excellence Award at the Innovation Exhibition in the year 2016, in participation with other scientists at the Innovation Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to prepare a product prepared using nanotechnology that helps heal wounds.
