Careers

Newly appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Research Interests

My academic interests lie in the fields of chemistry and industrial pharmacy, with a particular focus on the application of pharmaceutical sciences to drug development and manufacturing. I am passionate about exploring the chemical principles that underpin pharmaceutical innovation and their role in improving healthcare outcomes. In addition to my scientific interests, I enjoy academic writing and proofreading, which allow me to contribute to the clarity, quality, and dissemination of scholarly work. I am committed to continuous learning and to supporting excellence in both research and academic communication.

External Activities

As a pharmacy professional with a strong academic foundation (Diploma in Pharmacy from University of Tripoli, Libya, MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science, and PhD in Pharmacy from Univesity of Brighton, UK), I contributed to university-related teaching and academic support through clearly defined training roles. Between 2019 and 2022, I worked as a Lab Demonstrator (part-time), where I supported practical learning by demonstrating laboratory procedures, assisting students during hands-on activities, and reinforcing safe and correct laboratory practices.

In parallel with my university-demonstrator role, I built strong professional pharmacy experience through clinical practice and healthcare management positions. I worked as a Hospital Pharmacist (full-time) from 2011 to 2014 and as a Pharmacist (full-time) from 2008 to 2011. I also served as a Hospital Pharmacist at Oil Clinic (until date), and took on leadership roles including Manager of Oxygen Center (1/9/2023–15/11/2024) and Manager of Alenma Medical Center (16/11/2024–28/7/2025). From 2022 to 2024, I contributed to pharmaceutical investment and facility management within the Libyan Company of Health facility Investment, including Head of Monitoring Department (2022), Head of Studies Department in the Investment Administration (2022–2023), and Manager of Investment and Projects Administration (2023–2024).

Beyond teaching and practice, I have contributed to scholarly work through publication, peer-review, and academic evaluation activities. I have published a number of articles, and I have also conducted article reviews as a member of the European Society of Medicine, supporting scientific quality and evidence-based standards through expert evaluation. My published research includes studies on resveratrol encapsulated in liposomes or PLA nanoparticles, epicatechin encapsulated in liposomes protecting NRK-52E cells, and acute kidney injury therapies involving antioxidants and antioxidant formulations. I also have submitted an article, titled Formulation and biological evaluation of curcumin-loaded liposomes and PLA nanoparticles against oxidative injury in NRK-52E cells to the Alqualim Journal and awaiting their response.

I am fully licensed and trained for professional practice. My licenses and certifications include a Pharmacist Licence, PEL (Animal Handling), Gas Safety, and Teaching and Demonstrating credentials. I attended important academic and professional development events, including but not limited to the Sixth National Conference for Pharmaceutical Sciences (2–4 April 2007) and International Pharmacovigilance Days (14–18 June 2012).
