Ms. Sakina Saadawi has been working at the University of Tripoli as a faculty member since 28-9-2012 and has many scientific activities, research and publications in the field of pharmacology and natural products.
Careers
Sakina Salem Saadawi works full-time as an Assistant Professor (full-time for teaching and research duties) in the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy. She previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in the department for four years from 2004-2008 before obtaining her Master’s degree from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and then returning to work at the University of Tripoli in 2012 as a researcher and lecturer. She held the position of Head of the Department for one year from October 2013 to October 2014. Sakina Saadawi worked as a member of the Quality Department at the college and is currently working as a member of the Scientific Committee at the college.
Research Interests
She has supervised many graduation projects and published many research papers in various international journals, and these publications include part of her master's thesis in addition to graduation projects and joint research. The field of research she worked on focuses on plant extraction and its various applications in addition to exploiting natural products and discovering their uses and introducing them into various natural preparations.
Research interests are represented in the following areas:
- Biodegradation of oil waste and heavy elements using some types of plants.
- Evaluation of some herbal medicines and preparations in terms of microbial content and effectiveness of performance.
- Production of some pesticides and insect repellents that may cause diseases to humans using different plant extracts.
- Evaluation of some food and beverage products in terms of their caffeine content and their compliance with international standards.
- Converting some natural products into nano-compounds and exploiting them in different ways for the benefit of humans.
- Production of some skin preparations and natural detergents in cooperation with the Department of Industrial Pharmacy.
In addition to many other research interests.
External Activities
She worked as a referee in some scientific journals in addition to her participation in giving voluntary lectures to raise efficiency within the University of Tripoli by holding a training course on the prezi display system for employees, graduate students and faculty members in the college, in addition to a training course for university clinic employees among many lectures that aimed to raise the efficiency of employees within the clinic. She also worked as a member of the department's scientific day team and participated in many activities inside and outside the college, including a scientific trip to the Shafaeen Reserve to inform and train students on how to collect medicinal herbs from their original habitat using scientific collection methods. She participated in the reclamation and development of the herbal garden in the Department of Pharmacology as a member of the (Wherever it goes, it blooms) team with the participation of faculty members, employees and many students in cooperation with the Friends of the Tree Association. She also participated in the drawing competition held in the hanging garden in the department in cooperation with the College of Arts and the Friends of the Tree Association.
