Roles

I have been appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Pharmacognosy and Natural Products, where I focus on teaching and developing courses related to phytochemistry and pharmacognosy. My role includes delivering lectures and practical sessions to pharmacy students, in addition to academic supervision of several courses related to natural products. I also contribute to interdisciplinary teaching across different departments, which enhances academic interaction and integration between the various fields of pharmacy. I constantly strive to develop comprehensive and engaging educational materials that are in line with the latest scientific developments in the field of natural products and their pharmaceutical applications, which contributes to building a solid scientific foundation for students and qualifies them for successful professional practice in the future. In addition to teaching, I actively participate in exam preparation and monitoring processes, where I work on preparing and organizing theoretical and practical exam papers in coordination with my colleagues in the department. I contribute to ensuring that these exams accurately and effectively assess students’ understanding of the scientific material, and contribute to achieving the educational objectives for each stage of their study. As a study and examination coordinator within the Department of Pharmacology, I am responsible for supervising the educational process and ensuring that examinations run smoothly according to the highest academic standards, enhancing student performance and ensuring fair and appropriate assessment for their different academic levels.

As part of my interest in natural products, I have professional experience in analyzing honey, propolis and their products, including quality control of various samples from all over the world. I assess the quality of these products by conducting chemical analyses and examining active ingredients such as phenols and flavonoids. My tasks include determining physical and chemical properties, and conforming to international quality control standards, ensuring the safety and efficacy of these products. This analysis is important in assessing the quality of honey and propolis for therapeutic uses, and relies on samples taken from multiple regions to ensure diversity and efficacy.

In addition, I supervise undergraduate research projects for undergraduate students, providing them with guidance and advice on how to develop their research projects, choose appropriate research methodologies, and write scientific reports in a professional academic style. Through this supervision, I aim to enhance students’ abilities in scientific research and develop a deep understanding of natural products, which contributes to their academic and personal success. In addition, I provide continuous guidance to students throughout their studies, and support them in overcoming academic challenges, which enhances their self-confidence and qualifies them to achieve excellence. I also contribute to improving teaching and assessment methods within the department, which ensures the provision of modern and effective education for students, while maintaining the highest standards of academic quality and encouraging students to think critically and conduct in-depth scientific research.

Careers

In 2002 I started as demonstrator in natural products Department and participated in lab & demonstrations throughout the university.

Research Interests

I have many interests in the analysis of natural products in NMR, Mass spectroscopy and High-performance liquid chromatography HPLC that is used to detect the quality and quantity of natural products.

External Activities

I have attended many international conferences related to natural product and chemistry as its a great passion of mines
