Research Interests
Experienced Pharmaceutical Researcher with over 15 years of experience in the field of Phytochemistry and Natural Products. Strong background in isolation, identification and characterization of bioactive compounds from botanical sources. Proficient in various analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS and NMR. Familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation and its implementation. Proven track record of publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences. Passionate about discovering novel natural compounds and their potential therapeutic applications. Conducting research focused on isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants using laboratory techniques and instrumentation such as Chromatography: CLC; PTLC and HPLC (Agilent, Jasco and Dionex systems, analytical and preparative), Spectroscopy: UV-Vis (WinAspect Plus); Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) (QTOF MS Agilent with ESI) and NMR (Ultra shield Bruker AMX 300 & 600) Freeze drying of bioactive samples for further chemical analysis, Rotary evaporator to assist in evaporation of solvents. Perform cell culture techniques on active extracts, fractions and isolated pure compounds. Perform literature searches to generate high quality literature reviews to support research projects. Analyze statistical data using GraphPad software.
