Roles

At the beginning of the academic year 1/1/2002, I began working in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Tripoli, in hospital pharmacy and pharmaceutical practice subjects, where I taught many related topics to work in the Ministry of Health. Since the beginning of my work in the Department of Pharmaceutics, I also supervised many graduation projects for bachelor's students, and all projects were related to each work of the Pharmacy Department at the Ministry of Health. One of the most important projects that I supervised was the drug prices project in both the public and private sectors in the Libyan state and the challenges related to this aspect, as well as counterfeit drugs in the Libyan market with the role of the Ministry of Health and the Drug and Food Control Centre in combating them.

Careers

Before joining the Department of Pharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Tripoli, I worked for many years in the public health sector, specifically in the Health Services Unit at Social Security. I started working in all departments of the Tripoli Pharmacy Administration office, namely the Department of Medicines, Medical Supplies and Equipment, the Cold chain, the inspection of the work of health centres and medicines, as well as medical gases within the scope of the city of Tripoli and its suburbs. In 2000, I obtained a master’s degree in Libyan pharmaceutical policy and pharmaceutical supply to the State of Libya. I was assigned to work at Al-Maya Pharmaceutical Factory for a year specifically from the beginning of 2001 to the end of the same year in the research and development department and to establish a laboratory for pharmaceutical preparations for external use. At the beginning of 2004, I was then assigned to manage medical supplies at Tripoli Medical Centre, in addition to my membership in many committees affiliated with the health sector.

Research Interests

One of my priorities has always been to focus on mechanisms to link what is being done in the health sector with what is being taught in the faculty of Pharmacy, specifically what is related to the national pharmaceutical policy, to facilitate the integration of pharmacy graduates into work within health facilities of all kinds.

External Activities

I have worked in many committees in the past, for example, the medical equipment inventory committee for the Eye Hospital in Tripoli, as well as my membership in both the equipment of the Abu Salim Hospital in Tripoli and the equipment committee of Ibn Sina Hospital in Sirte. I was also appointed as an internal examiner for a master's student at the Faculty of Pharmacy. I was also assigned to teach pharmacovigilance and drug safety to pharmacists who were then registered to start the fellowship program. I then published research papers on Alzheimer's disease, and drug sensitivity to some drugs, specifically some antibiotics, in addition to some anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, paracetamol, and Voltaren.
