Research Interests

My interest is mainly rooted in petroleum geoscience, while I have a wider background in earth science. My researches have focused on Sedimentology, especially of clastic reservoirs, identification and prediction of their petrophysical properties, studying the improvement of these properties, the effect of diagenesis on the reservoirs quality and the possible origin and timing of any possible post-depositional diagenetic changes. For instance, influx of acidic component produced by thermal maturation of organic matter or by release of organic acids and CO2 that may form as a result of biodegradation of oil. My recent research has focused on the effect of an unconformity surfaces on the quality of clastic reservoirs and fluid flows, investigating whether there is a relationship between the presence of unconformity surfaces and the development of the destruction of reservoir quality underneath. Multidisciplinary approach has been applied in order to understand the role of unconformities in the distribution of clay and porosity in North Sea clastic reservoirs. This includes core logging and depositional modelling of various reservoirs mainly from the UK and Norwegian North Sea, sedimentological and petrographic analysis (using the optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy quantitative analysis).
