Roles
Dr. Fathi Al-Bouras has been a valued faculty member at the University of Tripoli since 02/04/2014, serving as a permanent associate professor in the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Science. Throughout his tenure, he has taught a variety of courses, including Geophysical well recordings, oil reservoir assessment, and petrophysics, among others.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Fathi has taken on important roles within the department. From 2018 to 2021, he served as the Quality and Performance Evaluation Coordinator, demonstrating his commitment to ensuring the highest standards of education and research within the Geophysics Department. Prior to that, from fall 2015 to spring 2018, he held the position of head of the Geophysics Department, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication to the advancement of the department's goals and objectives.
Careers
Mr. Fathi began his journey in the Department of Geophysical Engineering as a teaching assistant in January 1983. During this time, he actively engaged with students, providing guidance and support in both laboratory activities and field operations, ensuring their practical learning experience was enriching.
In 1986, Mr. Fathi pursued further academic achievement and successfully obtained a master's degree from the esteemed University of Waterloo in Canada. This educational milestone expanded his knowledge and expertise in his field.
Recognizing his dedication and contributions, Dr. Fathi's exceptional work led to a well-deserved promotion in 2014. He was elevated to the esteemed rank of associate professor, acknowledging his significant accomplishments and expertise in his area of specialization.
Research Interests
Currently, Dr. Fathi's research interests lie in the exploration of geophysical recordings of wells. These recordings provide valuable insights into the layers that hold oil and gas reserves. Additionally, he is intrigued by the application of the geoelectrical method to identify water layers and to detect archaeological sites, among other fascinating areas.
Dr. Fathi's expertise in these subjects is well-documented, as he has authored numerous papers exploring these fields. His contributions have greatly advanced our understanding of how geophysical data can be harnessed for various purposes, expanding the boundaries of knowledge in these domains.
External Activities
From 2006 AD to 2012 AD, Dr. Fathi served as a trainer in multiple training courses organized by the esteemed National Oil Company. During this period, he shared his expertise and knowledge with aspiring professionals, helping them enhance their skills and understanding in the field.
In addition to his involvement with the National Oil Corporation, Dr. Fathi is an esteemed member of both the African Geosciences Society and the Libyan Geosciences Society. Through his active participation in these societies, he collaborates with fellow experts, contributes to discussions, and stays updated with the latest advancements in the geosciences field.
