Scientific Field Trip Organized by the Physics Department to Al-Riyayna for the Study of the “Reverse Gravity” Phenomenon and Environmental Radiation Assessment

As part of the Physics Department’s efforts at the Faculty of Science to develop academic programs and strengthen community and environmental services, the department organized a scientific field trip on Thursday, May 14, 2026, to the Al-Riyayna area. The trip aimed to investigate the phenomenon commonly referred to as “reverse gravity,” as well as to assess the environmental conditions of the area and verify the absence of radioactive contamination.

The field trip was attended by Professor Abdullah Al-Kalash, Head of the Physics Department, and Professor Mohammed Abdulaziz, Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, along with a distinguished group of faculty members, technicians, staff members, and students from the department.

The scientific delegation received a warm welcome from the Mayor of Al-Riyayna Municipality, his deputy, and several local community leaders, reflecting their appreciation for the scientific and academic role played by the department.

The scientific program of the trip included several practical activities and field studies, such as:

  • Conducting experimental measurements to study the reverse gravity phenomenon.
  • Performing laser surveys of the contour surfaces in the phenomenon area.
  • Measuring environmental radiation levels to ensure that the area is free from radioactive contamination.

The trip also combined scientific and recreational aspects, creating a highly engaging experience for the participating students. The students expressed their enthusiasm for such field activities and recommended that similar scientific trips be repeated and incorporated into academic courses due to their significant role in strengthening practical skills and linking theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

In honor of the visiting scientific team, Al-Riyayna Municipality hosted a luncheon during which both parties exchanged words of appreciation and gratitude for the efforts made to ensure the success of the scientific visit.

After completing the scientific activities, the return journey continued through several towns in the Western Mountain region, including Kikla, Al-Qawaleesh, Al-Asabaa, and Gharyan. During the trip, the team visited a number of cultural and heritage sites, including traditional pottery manufacturing and marketing areas, as well as Housh Al-Hafr and Shilyouni Abu Ghailan, before heading to Al-Aziziyah and finally returning to the University of Tripoli.

The trip was accompanied by an emergency ambulance team, members of the Faculty of Science Students’ Union, and several university security personnel, all of whom contributed to ensuring a safe and well-organized journey.

At the conclusion of the trip, the Physics Department extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to all members of the organizing committee and everyone who contributed to the supervision, organization, and support of this successful scientific activity. Thankfully, all participants returned safely to the university.
