Prof. Ali Muhammad Kremid was a teacher in the general education sector in the preparatory school system from 1976-1982, and then a teacher of physics in the secondary schools system after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Education from the University of Tripoli in 1982, then he moved to work as a faculty staff member in the Physics Department at the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Tripoli after obtaining a Master degree in 1989 from the same department (Physics) at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli. He then obtained a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Manchester, UK, in 1997. Then he acquired all academic degrees possible for faculty members until he reached the rank of full Professor of Theoretical Physics in the Department of Physics.

Prof. Kremid taught undergraduate courses, including advanced courses in the department. He also contributed, through his professional career, in teaching postgraduate courses in the Physics Department. In addition, he contributed to teaching general physics courses in other faculties at the same University of Tripoli, such as the Faculty of Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Medical Technology. Among the most important subjects that Prof. Kremid taught at the undergraduate level at the Faculty of Science are PH111, PH112, PH113, PH211, PH212, PH311, and in the Faculty of Engineering GS111, GS112, and GS112L, and in medical faculties he taught Medical Physics, while in postgraduate studies he taught Classical Mechanics and Electrodynamics.

During his work in the department, he contributed to the Faculty of Science Union as a member of the union 1990-1991, and in the meanwhile he  exercised his duties in the Investigation and Disciplinary Committee for Students at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli 1990-1992.

An overview of the academic path

Before joining the university teaching in the Department of Physics, Ali Kremid taught in the preparatory school system after obtaining a teaching degree license from the Ibn Mandhoor Institute in 1976, then he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Education from the Faculty of Education at the University of Tripoli in 1982, after which he taught Physics for the secondary school system in Libya and outside Libya in the State of Mauritania (1982 - 1985) and continued teaching at the secondary school level until obtaining a Master degree from the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli in 1988, and as a result he was transferred to work as a faculty member (assistant lecturer) in the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Science, Tripoli 1989, he then obtained a lecturer’s degree after obtaining a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Manchester, UK, 1997. During his professional career, he attained all the scientific promotions, which are Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor, and finally Full Professor.

Research Interests

Research areas and interests:

Research areas for Prof. Kremid is the fields of Theoretical Physics (Quantum Optics). He has published his research works in local and international scientific journals, he has also contributed distinguished scientific research to scientific conferences locally and internationally. He has also authored several curriculum books and participated during his work at the university in supervising some M.Sc. theses at the university, and he also evaluated some M.Sc. theses for other universities such as the University of Benghazi and the University of Misurata.
