Dr. Abdalla Mohamed Al-Kelsh is a faculty member in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science. Professor Abdullah Al-Klsh has been working at the University of Tripoli as a professor since 01/02/1988 and has many scientific publications in his field of specialization. He has taught general and specialized courses at the undergraduate level, and he also participates in teaching and supervising the graduate studies program in the department. He worked as a coordinator of the curriculum committee, a member of the graduate studies committee, and a coordinator of the joint doctoral program in physics. He is currently the head of the department.

Careers

Mr. Abdalla Mohamed Al-Kelsh worked as a teaching assistant in the Physics Department / Faculty of Science / University of Tripoli - Libya after obtaining a university degree (Bachelor’s) in Physics in 1984 with a very good overall grade, and he continued as a teaching assistant until he obtained the higher degree (Master’s) in 14.1. 1988 in theoretical physics, and since that date Mr. Al-Kelsh joined as a faculty member in the Physics Department with the rank of Assistant Lecturer, and continued teaching and scientific research until he was scientifically promoted to the rank of Lecturer in 1991, and on 9.12.1997. Mr. Al-Kelsh obtained a PhD from UMIST University in Manchester, United Kingdom (UK) in solid state physics and condensed matter (theoretical and practical). He joined his work regularly in teaching and scientific research and as a coordinator of many theoretical and practical courses until he was scientifically promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in 2002. He was assigned as a coordinator of the Curriculum Committee for 3 years during which the courses in the department and in Libyan universities were reviewed and developed. During this period, he was assigned as Director of the Department of Invention and Scientific Research at the Libyan Federation of Science Clubs affiliated with the National Authority for Scientific Research. In 2009, he was scientifically promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and joined the postgraduate studies program (Masters) teaching and supervising until he became a member of the postgraduate studies committee in the department. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of professor and continued teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as in scientific research in his field of specialization. In 2020, by ministerial decision, Professor Al-Kelsh was appointed President of the Libyan Academy in Gharyan for Postgraduate Studies in Applied and Human Sciences. In 2023, he was appointed Physics Coordinator in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Program for Exact Studies (Joint Doctorate) in the Western Region and in Libya. In addition, he currently works as Head of the Physics Department at the College.

Research Interests

Professor Al-Klesh's research interests are broad but mainly focused on the following:

• Theoretical physics (applications of function theory) (DFT) in systems of diodes and semiconductors.

• Atomic simulation technique (AST) in complex compounds and oxides to find the energies of different pure and doped crystals.

• As well as impurities and their diffusion mechanisms in spinel compounds to find the energies of impurities and migration and others.

• Renewable energies (RNE) as in direct and indirect solar energy, wind energy and sea waves.

• Medical physics (M.ph) and specifically neurophysics to monitor the electrical signal of the brain and heart using ECG and EEG respectively.

• In studies and applications of modern educational methods as in distance learning and virtual laboratories.

External Activities

Mr. Al-Kelsh's activities abroad are diverse. He is one of the pioneers of the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy (ICTP) for decades, through which he has published reports and scientific papers at the center since 1988. He is still in contact with the center due to its global capabilities and expertise. Al-Kalsh also participates in many international activities and conferences, such as in Hong Kong, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Turkey, Italy and Britain. Internally, Al-Kelsh was the head of the Third National Conference on Basic Sciences, which was held on 23-25/4/2009 at Gharyan University, and a cooperating member with the graduate studies program at the Academy, and in the National Center for Strategic Studies, and a resident of the Science Magazine / University of Tripoli, and in the National Center for Standards and Calibration.
