Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Kammon is one of the staff members at the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases. He is working as a Professor since 27-4-2021. Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Kammon has been promoted as Professor in the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, since 4/27/2021 He was also appointed Vice Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli from 2011 to 2012 and Head of the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, and Coordinator of Quality and Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, at the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli.
Research Interests
Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Kammon conducts research aimed at monitoring and evaluating the risks of tropical and transboundary diseases such as avian influenza / Newcastle disease / Covid 19 / foot and mouth disease in Libya. He is also interested in studying the use of some local medicinal plants in improving performance and health and strengthening the immune system of domestic birds. In addition to doing laboratory diagnosis and molecular characterization of some viral respiratory diseases (such as NDV, AI, IB, and ILT).
External Activities
Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Kammon has been appointed Director-General of the National Research Center for Tropical and Transboundary Diseases, from 2021 until now. Prior to that, he worked as a deputy director of the Libyan Center for Biotechnology Research in Zintan from 2020 to 2021, and a member of the management committee of the National Center for Animal Health from 2012 to 2014. He was also appointed as a coordinator for the Agricultural and Livestock sector in Zintan from 2011 to 2013. In addition, he is a practicing member of the Certified Quality Institute (CQI), a member of the Supreme National Committee for Food Safety in Libya, a member of the technical working group for the Arab rapid warning system for food and feed safety, a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Approaches in Poultry, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences, a member of the Advisory Board of the Mirror Research Journal in Veterinary Sciences and Animals, and a member of the American Association of Avian Pathologists, one of the founders of the Libyan Society of Poultry Diseases and a life member of the Indian Association of Poultry Sciences, and a member of the Libyan Experts and Consultants Association.
Publications
