Mohamed Lamin Showehdi, a faculty member in the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli. He transferred from the Marine Biology Research Centre with an academic degree as a lecturer to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tripoli in 2019, where he began his work in the faculty by teaching the theoretical and practical aspects of part of fish diseases course, which is the parasitic and viral diseases that affect fish. This course is taught to fifth-year students in the faculty. He has assigned the duties of the head of the department of quality and performance evaluation in the faculty, where he started working in the office of quality and performance evaluation and formed committees to work and obtain institutional accreditation, and indeed, thanks to Allah, a large part of the administrative procedures were developed and improved and the organization of the course of the educational process in the faculty was also obtained, and accreditation was also obtained institutions for three years. Mohamed Showehdi participated in several committees, including a member of the Committee for Updating the Graduates Guide and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Guide for the year 2021-2022, he was a member of the Organizing Committee for the Second Festival of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the year 2021-2022.
Careers
Mohamed Showehdi started from his previous job at the Marine Biology Research Centre in Tajoura. He was appointed as a research assistant in the Department of Quality and Marine Biological Diseases, then promoted according to regulations 501. He obtained a master’s degree in the field of fish diseases and management in 2015, then he was promoted. Assistant Lecturer, then Lecturer. He was a member of the Centre's Purchasing Committee. He also participated in several local and international scientific conferences. He also participated in the sea turtle rescue team with Libyan and Italian scientists. Mr. Mohamed has received several specialized training courses locally and abroad between Libya, Tunisia, and Italy.
Mohamed Showehdi moved from the Marine Biology Research Centre in Tajoura to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tripoli as a lecturer for the fish diseases course. He has been assigned as the quality coordinator in the Department of Poultry and Fish Diseases, then he was assigned to head the Quality and Performance Evaluation Department in the faculty, head of the faculty self-study update committee for the year 2021-2022, member of the faculty’s internal self-study evaluation committee, and head of the committee for developing the executive plan for the strategic plan for the year 2021-2022 for the faculty. Chairman of the committee to set the mechanisms of administrative procedures for the faculty. Member of the Committee for the Development of the Graduates Guide and the Faculty Guide. Member of the organizing committee for the graduation ceremony on the sidelines of the second festival of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the year 2021-2022.

Research Interests
Mohamed Showehdi is primarily interested in research studies related to water and marine fish. Since the Libyan waters lack scientific research in the field of knowing the pathogens that can affect the marine wealth and thus the health of the consumer, he should pay attention to conducting research studies in his field of specialization "fish diseases", especially fish parasites. Mr. Mohamed Showehdi searched for the types of parasites that infect Libyan and non-indigenous fish. He is also interested in researching how to use these parasites as a bio-indicator of the health of the marine environment, such as knowing the migration of fish or the pollution of Libyan marine waters and fish with untreated sewage. He was a member of a book creation project with a sea turtle conservation research team. In addition, the participation of a research team consisting of Libyan and Italian researchers to study sea cucumber.
External Activities
Mohamed Showehdi participated in many scientific and awareness conferences, being an active member of the Society of Artisanal Fishing Friends from 2018 to 2023, where he carried out many activities aimed at spreading awareness among fishermen and everyone related to fishing and fish about the sustainability of fishing and the preservation of marine biodiversity., as well as a member of the Libyan Network for the Preservation of Marine Biodiversity. He also participated in the sea turtle protection team in the Libyan state as well as in Italy. He is considered a member of the Libyan Committee (CPC) affiliated with ICCAT for the conservation of Atlantic Bluefin tuna and head of its scientific committee from 2019 to 2023. The committee succeeded in obtaining the approval of the Ikat Committee to start fishing for the seasons 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
